Richard G. Wern
Richard G. Wern, president and managing partner of the firm, has been practicing plaintiff law since 1979. Wern, a personal injury lawyer, spends the majority of his time managing cases, solving legal challenges, and overseeing all activities of the firm. He focuses his practice on workers' compensation, wrongful death, automobile accidents, medical malpractice and hospital mistakes, and birth injuries.
Wern earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, where he majored in political science and minored in economics. He then went on to earn his law degree from the University of Puget Sound School of Law in Tacoma, Washington. He is admitted to practice by the South Carolina Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Wern is a member of the South Carolina Bar, South Carolina Association for Justice, Charleston County Bar Association, South Carolina Workers' Compensation Educational Association, and Injured Workers' Advocates.
He is also a founding member of the Association of South Carolina Claimant Attorneys for Workers' Compensation, now known as Injured Worker's Advocates, and currently serves as vice president for Animals Living Life, a position that he has held since 2003.
Barbara P. Pinkerton
Barbara P. Pinkerton, associate attorney, has been practicing law with Richard Wern Lawyers since 2001, where she focuses on workers' compensation and social security disability matters. A native of Rochester, New York, Pinkerton graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She earned her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law, where she was a member of the Syracuse Law Review. Pinkerton, who is admitted to the bars of South Carolina and Maryland, previously practiced general litigation in Baltimore, Maryland, and later provided in-house counsel for Alexander & Alexander, Inc., an international insurance brokerage firm.
